Our Coronavirus Response
March 16, 2020
Glassman Neuropsychology Associates is a small neuropsychology clinic with just a few staff, making it possible for us to stay open at this time. We are making changes in day-to-day operations so that staff and patients remain safe during this time of heightened concern and anxiety about health because of the coronavirus. We have developed a Patient Communication Plan, are promoting hygiene, want to reduce your anxiety, and are making health monitoring a priority.
Patient Communication Plan
Current Therapy Clients
If you are a current therapy client, please call the office so that we can confirm tele-health appointments with you. We are now making the necessary arrangements with clients to continue therapy appointments by telephone/tele-health instead of in-person. We don’t want our clients who are at higher risk of infection because of chronic health conditions to have to travel or be out in the community any more than necessary.
Evaluation Clients
For clients who have been scheduled for an evaluation, we are scheduling appointments on a case-by-case basis. If you need to cancel a scheduled appointment due to illness or suspected contact with an ill individual, please call us, so that your appointment can be cancelled and rescheduled. There will be no fee for canceling or rescheduling your appointment. DO NOT COME TO THE APPOINTMENT IF YOU ARE ILL. Being ill means you feel warm or have a fever, cough, feel achy, tired, or short of breath. Call your doctor and follow their directions. Do not be around groups or crowds of people. We will call you the day before your appointment to confirm that you are feeling well enough to keep your appointment.
Promoting Hygiene
Here at the clinic, we are taking extra precautions to keep everyone healthy and safe. We are doing initial interviews by telephone, so that your visit with us is as short as possible. We are also doing feedback by telephone, so that you do not have to return to the clinic. We will also call you the day before your appointment, so that we can confirm that you are healthy enough to come to the appointment.
In the office, we are cleaning and wiping down our work surfaces and equipment, keeping extra distance from clients and monitoring our own health. We are washing our hands and using hand sanitizer frequently, and ask you to do the same. We also have an air purifier with a HEPA air filter running during office hours, to reduce the risk of air-borne virus spread in the office.
Health Monitoring
Please be mindful of your health and possible symptoms of illness. If you feel warm or hot, check your temperature. If you have a fever, call your doctor. The Centers for Disease Control say that the general symptoms of the coronavirus are fever, cough, being short of breath, and feeling tired or achy. If you have any of these symptoms, call your doctor, then call us to reschedule your appointment. If you believe you are ill, we will reschedule your appointment at least two weeks into the future.
If you come to our office and we believe that you are ill, we reserve the right to cancel and reschedule your appointment.
Reducing Anxiety
Being anxious during this crisis is a normal response. Coping more effectively can help you better meet the challenges presented by this health crisis. For suggestions about reducing anxiety, please see this web page and free video from the American Psychological Association: https://www.apa.org/research/action/speaking-of-psychology/coronavirus-anxiety
Dr. Glassman has been serving the Milwaukee community since 1991. He and his staff are concerned that our clients stay healthy and safe, while we strive to stay open during this difficult time. If you have any questions or concerns about our services during the coronavirus outbreak, please call us at 414 444-9811.
June 25, 2020 Update
We are doing neuropsychological evaluations in one of 3 ways: 1) traditional administration in office with social distancing; 2) "hybrid" administration in office combining traditional administration with remote (Zoom/Doxy.me) administration; 3) remote administration via Zoom/Doxy.me. The decision to do an evaluation, and how it will be done are determined by the urgency for the evaluation, health and risk concerns of the client, and the context of the evaluation (clinical or forensic/court-related). In addition, we are following guidelines and considerations in alignment with the Inter Organizational Practice Committee (IOPC, board of six national neuropsychology organizations) for neuropsychological assessment during the coronavirus crisis.
November 25, 2020 Update
We continue to closely monitor the guidance of West Allis Health Department and Wisconsin statewide mandates or recommendations. Given the very high rate of community spread of the coronavirus, we are doing most of our services remotely via internet, on Zoom and Doxy.me. If clients do not have internet access, we have them come to the office for a "virtual" visit using our equipment so they can still be socially distant and safe, to enable everyone to minimize their risk of contact.
